Volksblad is a daily newspaper in Bloemfontein, South Africa covering local news, sports, business, jobs, and community events. First published in 1904, Die Volksblad is the oldest Afrikaans daily newspaper in South Africa and the largest in the Free State and Northern Cape. In the south, Volksblad is distributed as far as Hanover, and in the Northern Cape as far as Kakamas. In the Northern Free State readers from as far as Sasolburg and Harrismith in the eastern Freestate read the morning Volksblad. Supplements of the paper include JIP (published on Mondays for teenagers), Kontrei (published on Wednesdays with news events happening in the Free State and Northern Cape countryside), Motor-Volksblad (a Thursday feature for motor vehicle enthusiasts), Joernaal (a Friday section about arts and entertainment), and Huis-en-Tuin (a Saturday supplement that covers homemaking, interior decorating and gardening).
