OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network is a USA television network.
OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network is a cable television channel launched on January 1, 2011. The network says it is "devoted to self-discovery, to connecting you to your best self and to the world." It covers health, home and relationships, primarily for women. Programming includes shows hosted by people such as Gayle King (a close friend of Oprah), country singer Shania Twain, journalist Lisa Ling and relationship advice expert Dr. Laura Berman.
Oprah Winfrey has been on TV for 25 years, hosting "The Oprah Winfrey Show" on broadcast television, and she appears daily on OWN. The Oprah Winfrey Network replaced the Discovery Health Channel on cable TV. As a result, at launch the channel was available in over 70 million American homes. OWN is a 50/50 joint venture between Ms. Winfrey and Discovery Communications Inc.
