Backpacker magazine won a National Magazine Award (nicknamed an Ellie) for
general excellence online in April 2009.
In this year's citation, the American Society of Magazine Editors wrote: "Jonathan Dorn, editor-in-chief; Anthony Cerretani, online editor.
