The New York Times reported on November 14, 2009:
"The data behemoth that Michael R. Bloomberg created and named after himself in 1981, long before he became mayor of New York, finally has the reach, resources and appetites to try snaring the mantle of Most Influential — at least in the rarefied world of business news.
“We want to be the world’s most influential news organization,” says Andrew Lack, who oversees Bloomberg’s television, radio and dot-com endeavors.
Very clear. The most influential. On the planet."

Mondo Times editors Boulder, Colorado USA | Posted at 3:09pm on Wednesday, November 4th, 2009 | Bloomberg LP Considers Charging up to $1,000 per year for Certain Material on Bloomberg.com
The Wall Street Journal reported on November 3, 2009:
"Such a move, disclosed Tuesday to Bloomberg employees at a meeting at Bloomberg News, would be the latest in a succession of steps by the financial data giant to expand its business beyond subscriptions to its Bloomberg Professional service.
Currently, access to Bloomberg.com is free, although the Web site features only some of the news stories available to subscribers of Bloomberg Professional.
Under one plan being considered for the Web site, Bloomberg would sell subscriptions to feeds of stories on specific topics, Kevin Krim, who runs Bloomberg.com, told employees. Mr. Krim said Bloomberg.com is considering charging between about $600 and $1,000 annually beginning sometime next year.
A Bloomberg spokeswoman declined to comment on specific plans under consideration for the Web site. "The company is in the process of evaluating various approaches," she said."

Mondo Times editors Boulder, Colorado USA | Posted at 1:15pm on Monday, October 5th, 2009 | Bloomberg News will team up with the Washington Post to create a new news service, the Washington Post reported on October 2, 2009:
"The Washington Post and Bloomberg News have struck a wide-ranging partnership that will include a joint news service, a combined online page of business news and the transmission of Post stories on Bloomberg's financial terminals.
The agreement, announced Thursday, is a more ambitious alliance than The Post's news service with the Los Angeles Times. On Wednesday, the newspapers said that they would be ending that 47-year partnership. What has been dubbed The Washington Post News Service with Bloomberg News will compete among the existing 600 subscribers with the McClatchy-Tribune service, which will now include Times stories."
Bloomberg has more than 1,500 reporters and editors around the world. Matthew Winkler is the editor in chief of Bloomberg News.
