Mondo Times editors Boulder Colorado USA | Posted at 5:42pm on Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009 | Knight Foundation President Alberto Ibarguen is bankrolling dozens of experiments to save the news business. Can he rescue newspapers?
An interesting Q&A by Dirk Smillie was published by Forbes magazine on July 2, 2009:
"Alberto Ibargüen took over as president of the $2 billion John S. and James L. Knight Foundation in May 2005 after serving as publisher of the Miami Herald, which won three Pulitzer Prizes during his tenure. Now Ibargüen is directing a multi-year plan to spend $100 million on 130 projects dedicated to new media and the future of news. They range from projects on community-financed reporting and media "test kitchens" at universities to a new journalism institute in India, home to the largest newspaper market in the world. He spoke to Forbes in late May."

Eric Kallgren Boulder, Colorado USA | Posted at 3:02pm on Tuesday, November 18th, 2008 | On November 17, 2008, the Valleywag web site reported that Forbes Media is merging the staff of Forbes magazine and its online component. Valleywag said that the two units are "run separately and with a ludicrous amount of mutual suspicion and jealousy. An internal memo sent by CEO Steve Forbes to staff says that print and online sales and marketing will be immediately integrated, reporting up to an "office of the chairman" which includes Forbes.com publisher Jim Spanfeller, whom rumors had previously pegged as the head of the combined operation. Integration of the Web and print editorial staff won't happen until early 2009."
