Mondo Times editors Boulder, Colorado USA | Posted at 11:21pm on Tuesday, July 28th, 2009 | With thousands of new jobs and tens of millions invested in business development in New Orleans, Entrepreneur magazine takes a look at the city's emerging entrepreneurial culture.
The August 2009 issue finds New Orleans to be an example of how entrepreneurship remains essential to economic recovery, particularly as troubled cities across the country search for a revival.
Four years after the more than 50 levees and floodwalls gave way during Hurricane Katrina, business owners are rebuilding New Orleans' economic lifelines in a spirited environment flowing with creativity, community, mentorship and collaboration. Dozens of support organizations and incentives are contributing to the uprising with evidence of real results: The April unemployment rate for the New Orleans metro area was 5.3 percent, compared to the nation's 8.9 percent.
"While known for its creative roots, New Orleans is fast becoming a business mecca as well, drawing innovative companies in everything from digital media to film, fashion, technology and more to find their place in the city," says Amy Cosper, VP/Editor in Chief of Entrepreneur. "Business owners are brimming with invention and entrepreneurial energy after the clearing away of previously embedded industry and practices."

Mondo Times editors Boulder, Colorado USA | Posted at 12:09am on Sunday, July 26th, 2009 | Staff writer Dennis Romero was laid off from Entrepreneur magazine in July 2009. He was not at all happy about it, and points a fickle finger at the magazine's editor, Amy Cosper:
"The real reason behind my termination was editor-in-chief Amy Cosper’s growing distaste for the presence of a knowing soul. It seemed like every time she saw my face she was looking in a mirror that reflects her own deceitfulness. You see, to call Cosper a journalist would be a stretch. Her own, official bio at Entrepreneur.com boasts that her previous claim to fame was the job of “entrepreneur-in-residence” at WiesnerMedia, a C-level magazine publisher whose titles include the stellar ColoradoBIZ and Trucking Times. In her bio, Cosper states that, while at Wiesner, “she solicited and evaluated new business plans, ventures and partnerships to drive the company’s initiative to diversify its portfolio.” I'm not sure what that means, but there’s not a word about being a journalist."
