Brandweek magazine has announced the 2009 Brandweek Marketer of the Year award winners. The winners include Dunkin' Donuts, which was selected for introducing authentic advertising that reflects the brand essence and the company's understanding of what people need to keep themselves and the country running.

The company is credited for listening to its customers and shining the spotlight on the accomplishments of hard-working people, while reinforcing that Dunkin' Donuts will continue to fuel their busy day and provide a bit of happiness for a good value.

Notable recent marketing campaigns from Dunkin' Donuts have included "Dunkin' Beat Starbucks" and "Breakfast NOT Brokefast."

"If making the sale were that easy, we'd have 1,200 marketers of the year instead of just 12. Marketing is hard, especially today," said Brandweek Editor-in-Chief Todd Wasserman. "The Brandweek Marketers of the Year consistently make new rules and then break them, reinventing the best way to connect with consumers and make a product resonate. We applaud their efforts and congratulate them."

Brandweek's Marketer of the Year Awards are presented to an outstanding list of marketers selected by a panel of Brandweek editors.

Founded in 1950, Dunkin' Donuts has more than 8,800 restaurants in 31 countries worldwide. In 2008, Dunkin' Donuts' global sales were $5.5 billion. Based in Canton, Massachusetts, Dunkin' Donuts is a subsidiary of Dunkin' Brands, Inc.

Some staff changes at BrandWeek magazine, Folio magazine reported on May 15, 2009:

"Nielsen Business Media’s Adweek Media Group—which publishes Adweek, Brandweek and Mediaweek—said Mediaweek publisher Geri FitzGerald will also serve as publisher of Brandweek. FitzGerald replaces Tom Woerner, who left the company.

Alison Fahey will continue to serve as publisher and editorial director of Adweek, Nielsen media and entertainment group senior vice president Gerry Byrne wrote in a memo to staffers.

In an e-mail to friends, former Brandweek managing editor Chuck Stogel said he was laid off Thursday. It was not immediately clear how many other layoffs there were. A Nielsen spokesperson declined to comment."
