TBS Comedy Executive Exiting Network, The Hollywood Reporter reported on November 29, 2009:

"Nina Howie is leaving TBS after 3 1/2 years.

As vp comedy, Howie oversaw the network's original programming under TBS and TNT programming chief Michael Wright.

The backbone of TBS' original-series lineup has been acquisitions, including the Tyler Perry/Debmar-Mercury comedies "House of Payne" and "Meet the Browns" and off-network hits "Family Guy" and "The Office," but the network's homegrown shows have not fared as well."

TV advertisers are being offered closer ties between ads and program content, Stuart Elliott of the New York Times reported on May 19, 2009:

"In another sign of how hard television executives are working to attract advertising in tough times, two cable channels plan to significantly expand an initiative that pairs commercials with relevant scenes in the shows they interrupt.

This week, TV networks preview their new shows, unveil their fall schedules, and schmooze with advertisers.

At a presentation on Wednesday, Turner Entertainment Networks — part of the Turner Broadcasting System unit of Time Warner — intends to announce the expansion of the initiative, called TV in Context. It is to be available in 100 movies and scripted series during the 2009-10 season on TBS and TNT; it has been available in 50 movies on those channels during 2008-9."
