Martha Stewart Show Moving to Hallmark Channel

The New York Daily News reported on January 27, 2010:

"Martha Stewart is leaving the often inconsistent world of syndication for a comfortable home with the Hallmark Channel.

Following in Oprah Winfrey's footsteps, Stewart will make the move from broadcast to cable, thanks to a new deal with Hallmark that will give the network exclusive rights to original episodes of "The Martha Stewart Show" beginning this September.

The partnership, announced Tuesday, also includes a range of new and original series and prime-time specials developed by Stewart's company, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. They'll air as part of Hallmark's current lineup of original movies, "Hallmark Hall of Fame" movies, specials and television classics.

All together, MSLO will provide two and a half-hours of programming a day to Hallmark.

"I have been a viewer of Hallmark productions for as long as I can remember and it's always been a dream of mine to find a partner for our television ideas and productions that would really reflect our own values of tradition and family, and of being the type of producer of information that the homemaker really needs and wants," Stewart told reporters Tuesday. "I am thrilled with this arrangement."
