Trash TV: Sidney Torres and His 'Trashmen' Debut on TLC

Los Angeles (February 3, 2010) -- New Orleans garbage man Sidney Torres is proof that trash makes for good TV. Torres is famous for managing to do what no one else has - cleanup after the massive parties on New Orleans' world famous Bourbon Street - and look good doing it. Now, the city's own "Rembrandt of Refuse" shows the world how he gets it done in TLC's new pilot 'Trashmen.'

The hour-long episode features Sidney and his trash troops keeping it clean on Halloween weekend, one of the busiest of the year in the Big Easy. Tens of thousands of people pack Bourbon Street, while another 100,000 more flock to Voo Doo Fest, a major annual outdoor concert. To cap off the busy weekend, the New Orleans Saints will be playing on Monday Night in the Superdome - yet another big job for Sidney's crew. These are huge demands for his upstart company and he relies on his trusted team to pull it off. With his best friend, Lenny Kravitz, headlining Voo Doo Fest, which Sidney is also tasked to keep clean, he works to find balance between his life and work. Sidney's reputation is on the line as everyone from city officials to local residents are depending on Sidney to leave the place spotlessly clean.

LC to Premiere New Series - ADDICTED

"LOS ANGELES, January 14, 2010 -- Today, TLC announced plans to premiere ADDICTED, a one-hour docu-series following the lives of individuals struggling with addiction as they work with interventionist Kristina Wandzilak. Each riveting episode will take viewers on the unpredictable journey of recovery and the harrowing struggle to become sober.

New series ADDICTED will demonstrate the debilitating disease of addiction and how it not only affects the addict but the family as well. And no one more intimately knows this than top interventionist Kristina Wandzilak. As a recovering addict herself, Kristina pulls from her own experiences, bringing a level of understanding and compassion to the healing process.

ADDICTED will focus on one person per episode. And while the problem of substance abuse is addressed, the family and the addict are also given the tools to not only get well in the moment but to continue a healthy life, or as Kristina says, "not just how to get in the door but how to walk the path." The interventions that take place are planned by all members of the family, including the addict. TLC will take viewers inside the difficult, but ultimately inspiring battle to overcome substance abuse. "Addiction happens to good people and decent families all the time," says Wandzilak. "I know how to change a life, and I know how to live better. I can do that. I am an example of it, and if I can do it, anyone can."

"This is a series about family, change and hope," said TLC President Eileen O'Neill.

"ADDICTED is a raw and authentic portrait of addiction in America and while viewers will see the brutal battle for sobriety, it ultimately demonstrates the importance of substance abuse treatment -- and makes for powerful television."
