Mondo Times editors Boulder, Colorado USA | Posted at 1:04am on Saturday, September 26th, 2009 | September 2009: The AMC drama Mad Men has won three Emmy Awards, including its second consecutive wins for Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.
Creator/Executive Producer Matthew Weiner, who earned four of the five drama series writing nominations, took home his second consecutive trophy in this category. With its win for Outstanding Hairstyling for a Single-Camera Series at last week's Creative Arts Awards, Mad Men received a total of three Emmys this year.
The hit comedy Weeds scored the Emmy for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation at last week's Creative Arts ceremonies.
"These awards are a wonderful tribute to both shows," said Kevin Beggs, Lionsgate's president of television programming and production. "We're privileged to be working with brilliantly talented teams led by Matt Weiner and Jenji Kohan and extremely honored by this recognition from the TV Academy."
Currently in its third season on AMC and recently picked up for season four, Mad Men has earned critical acclaim and a long list of honors. In addition to its Emmys , the series has won two Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Series - Drama, AFI Awards as One of the Top 10 Outstanding Television Programs of 2007 and 2008, a Peabody Award and two Writers Guild Awards, among many others. The drama has also been honored internationally with the 2008 BAFTA Award, the Royal Television Society Award for International Program and most recently, the Monte Carlo TV Festival's Golden Nymph Award.
Created and executive produced by Matthew Weiner in association with Weiner Bros., Mad Men is set in New York in the 1960's and follows the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising when the industry was at its height of glamour, power and prestige. The series stars Jon Hamm, January Jones, Vincent Kartheiser, Elisabeth Moss, Christina Hendricks, John Slattery, Bryan Batt, Michael Gladis, Aaron Staton, Rich Sommer and Robert Morse.

New York, NY - September 1, 2009 - AMC announced today it has renewed Mad Men for a fourth season. The news comes on the heels of the premiere of the series' third season, which debuted Sunday, August 16 to unprecedented critical acclaim and attention, and garnered a record 4.5 million viewers. The series has also recently received 16 Emmy nominations - the most for any drama series - including Outstanding Drama, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama (Jon Hamm), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama (John Slattery), and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama (Elisabeth Moss). Creator, writer and executive producer Matthew Weiner has received four out of the five nominations in the Outstanding Writing for a Drama series category. Lionsgate, the leading next generation studio, produces the series in association with AMC.
"We always saw the potential for Mad Men, and believed in and supported the series because of our strategy of developing cinematic television that complements our library of the most entertaining movies, from every genre, on television. Last season, over 30 million viewers watched Mad Men on-air, on video-on-demand as well as on iTunes. The series continues to deliver the strongest concentration of upscale adults 25-54, more than any other original drama series on basic cable. "Mad Men" has consistently ranked at the top of the iTunes TV charts, and now in its third season it continues to hold the number one spot with its premiere episode.

This season, actor Jared Harris joins the cast in a recurring role, playing Lane Pryce, a financial officer at the Sterling Cooper advertising agency.
Harris joins returning cast members Jon Hamm, Elisabeth Moss, Vincent Kartheiser, January Jones and Christina Hendricks and guest star John Slattery.
Harris recently appeared in the movie "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and in a recurring role on Fox's "Fringe."

The marathon will feature 6 movies, including "Patton," "The Battle of the Bulge" and "Midway." McCain, a Vietnam War veteran and former prisoner of war, will discuss his war experiences when the marathon airs on May 25, 2009.
