Mondo Times editors Boulder, Colorado USA | Posted at 5:16pm on Tuesday, August 25th, 2009 | Twenty-five years ago, America welcomed The Cosby Show and the Huxtable family into their homes. Sunday, September 20, 2009 marks the 25th anniversary of The Cosby Show and to celebrate the milestone (to the day), WGN America will be airing a series of tributes to The Cosby Show including a rebroadcast of the original NBC Thursday night lineup as it aired on September 20th 1984 (the day The Cosby Show debuted).
"As we have seen with the success of WGN America's current Sunday lineup, "Outta Site Retro Night," our viewers love nostalgia and to recreate the programming of 1984 allows us to offer viewers a chance to re-live a history-making lineup," said Sean Compton, SVP of Programming and Entertainment, Tribune Broadcasting. "The strength of this 1984 night brought comedy back to primetime and forever changed the way families watched television."

Eric Kallgren Boulder, Colorado USA | Posted at 3:09pm on Sunday, April 19th, 2009 | WGN is getting a new look and new programs, Media Life magazine reported on April 13, 2009:
"If viewers are aware of WGN outside of Chicago, it's because they're Cubs fans, or the network airs reruns of a favorite show from years past.
Otherwise it's likely a channel they flip by on their way to one of the hot cable networks like USA or AMC to watch an original series. Or so it's long been for the 31-year-old network.
That's about to change.
WGN is relaunching with a new logo, a new theme song and a revamped lineup, including original shows, with ambitions to challenge the likes of USA and TNT with the sort of family-friendly programming that's been so successful for Hallmark Channel.
“For years it’s just been sitting there, doing all right but not cutting through the clutter,” says Lee Abrams, who carries the title of chief innovation officer at WGN America."
