W Editor Resigns as Conde Nast Reworks Magazine

The New York Post reported on March 18, 2010:

"Patrick McCarthy, chairman of Condé Nast's Fairchild Fashion Group and the editor of W magazine, is stepping down at the end of the year.

His departure is part a shakeup that returns W to Condé Nast's glossy consumer magazine unit after just a few months with Fairchild, which publishes Women's Wear Daily and other fashion trades.

McCarthy has been at Fairchild for three decades, working his way up from reporter for WWD. He was editorial director of Fairchild when Condé Nast parent Advance Publications bought it in 1999.

Condé Nast wouldn't go into detail about his decision to step down. McCarthy didn't return a call seeking comment."
