Mondo Times editors Boulder, Colorado USA | Posted at 12:33pm on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009 | Every year Glamour celebrates "Women of the Year" by paying tribute to courageous and inspiring women who are changing the world. This year the magazine features First Lady Michelle Obama on the cover, accompanied by an interview with new Glamour monthly columnist Katie Couric in which they discuss the importance of role models and mentoring the next generation.
The feature is in Glamour's December 2009 issue, on newsstands November 10.
First Lady Michelle Obama has demonstrated a commitment to helping the next generation of girls expand their horizons and providing them with the information and inspiration to envision themselves as the leaders of tomorrow. Glamour celebrates her for bringing the importance of mentoring to the national forefront with events that connect young girls from around the country with women leaders from business, government, sports, science, academia, the arts and philanthropy. Mrs. Obama enlisted women in the administration to mentor girls in the community.
"In under a year, Michelle Obama has transformed the role of First Lady, throwing open the doors of the White House to families and to children," says Cindi Leive, Glamour editor-in-chief. "That alone earns her icon status -- but we were especially moved by her determination to show girls the power of believing in themselves and their dreams."

Mondo Times editors Boulder, Colorado USA | Posted at 11:03pm on Sunday, September 27th, 2009 | Award-winning journalist Katie Couric has joined Glamour magazine as a monthly columnist, editor-in-chief Cindi Leive announced on September 24, 2009. Couric, the anchor and managing editor of CBS Evening News With Katie Couric, will interview women, starting with an exclusive talk with First Lady Michelle Obama for the magazine's December issue.
In a monthly Q&A column, Couric will explore what makes her subjects so inspiring to other women and girls, something the groundbreaking journalist is particularly interested in. Whether she's sitting down with a head of state, a pop star or an athlete, Couric will speak with the female figures young women most want to hear from right now -- in the candid, intimate, provocative way that only she can.
"Young women in this country grew up with Katie Couric -- and her Sarah Palin interviews last year had them glued to their TV sets," says Leive. "It's not just that she's a dominant figure in news to them, which she is -- it's that she has the human touch it takes to get into the personalities behind the news, and that makes her perfect for Glamour readers."
Glamour reaches one in every 10 women in America with its sharp and smart mix of fashion, news and health coverage. Couric joins an illustrious group of writers who have contributed to the magazine, including Mariane Pearl, Eve Ensler, Meryl Streep, Ben Affleck, Nora Ephron, Robin Givhan, Wes Craven, Sheila Weller, Tonya Lewis Lee, Sue Halpern, Mary Karr, Stephen Colbert and Carole Radziwill.

Mondo Times editors Boulder, Colorado USA | Posted at 1:01am on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009 | Glamour magazine is Jennifer but not Angelina, Stephanie Clifford of the New York Times reported on September 8, 2009:
"...in the first half of this year, though its circulation rose slightly, its single-copy sales fell and its ad pages were down 20 percent.
So Glamour is trying to get advertisers’ attention by pitching its readers as sunny, cheery, all-American nice girls.
“We’re Jennifer Aniston, but we may never be Angelina,” said Bill Wackermann, senior vice president and publishing director for Glamour, part of Condé Nast. “It’s optimistic, it’s very friendly.”"
