Mondo Times editors Boulder, Colorado USA | Posted at 3:03pm on Friday, October 2nd, 2009 | Compete, a TNS Media company, today released its ranking of the top television entertainment web sites for August 2009, which is based on data from the company's integrated online panel of two million US-based Internet users. The online homes of television channels experienced a jump in visitors over 2008; the category grew 15.4 percent to reach more than 71 million unique visitors (UVs) in August.
In the television entertainment category, the Food Network collected the most online viewers (9.7 million UVs), closely followed by TV.Yahoo.com (8.9 million UVs) and MTV (5.5 million UVs). Among the fastest growing television sites, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert were found competing for online fans. Stewart's thedailyshow.com grew by 109 percent month-over-month to reach 1.2 million UVs; and Colbert fans flocked to colbertnation.com, growing site traffic by 113 percent over July 2009 to reach 706,000 UVs in August.

Mondo Times editors Boulder, Colorado USA | Posted at 2:14pm on Thursday, September 10th, 2009 | Three students from The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Phoenix have been invited to compete on the Food Network series Iron Chef America.
This challenge marks the first time in the show's history that culinary students have been invited to compete in kitchen stadium. The students currently attend The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Phoenix and the team includes: Katelyn Remick, Julie Fiedler and Tyler Burke.
The episode will premiere on Sunday, September 27th at 9pm ET/PT and features the students battling against Iron Chef Michael Symon.
"This is a huge opportunity for the team, our school, and especially for me as a professional," Burke said. "I want to make every person that's taken a part in shaping me as a chef more than proud."
According to Chef Eric Watson, associate instructor and assistant academic director who led The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Phoenix's team, this team has been together for more than two years and has participated in many competitions, receiving two gold and two silver medals in state and regional American Culinary Federation competitions.
Team members were selected based upon academic excellence, performance experience and passion for the culinary arts. To prepare for the "Iron Chef America" competition, the student challengers practiced four-to-five times per week in addition to attending classes.

The new shows include "Chefs vs. City," about two chefs battling it out with two local foodies in various cities; "Worst Cooks In America," a competition series featuring 12 bad home cooks; "Foods That Changed the World," hosted by Alton Brown; and "Extreme Cuisine with Jeff Corwin," with wildlife expert Jeff Corwin exploring strange eats from abroad.
