Elle Decor magazine is honoring style leaders and design visionaries with its second annual Women in Design event on Monday, October 26, 2009 at The TimesCenter in New York.

The invitation-only evening is hosted by Elle Decor Editor in Chief Margaret Russell and Caroline Baumann, Acting Director of Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, Smithsonian Institution.

Four women featured in Elle Decor's November issue for their achievements in design will serve as panelists during the event: interior designer Holly Hunt, CEO of Holly Hunt; interior designer and author Charlotte Moss; Michelle Nussbaumer, interior designer and president/CEO of Ceylon et Cie; and interior designer and author Kelly Wearstler.

"Women in Design recognizes inspiring women who are making their mark in a field historically dominated by men and are prospering in a challenging economic environment," says Elle Decor's Margaret Russell. "Each of these women has forged her own path and developed her own unique style viewpoint, in the process changing the course of the design industry and remaking the world into a more beautiful, more livable place."

Elle Decor has named Mitchell Owens editor at large. Owens was previously the magazine's executive editor. The new executive editor at Elle Decor is Michael Boodro, who was previously editor in chief of Martha Stewart Living.
