Editor Defends Recycling Of Men's Health Cover, Mediaite reported on December 10, 2009:

"People who memorize every cover of Men’s Health may have noticed something curious about the December issue’s cover, aside from noted dreamboat Taylor Lautner: almost all of the text and layout is identical to a cover from 2007, which featured Jason Statham.

In a statement to Mediaite, Men’s Health editor-in-chief David Zinczenko defends the cover.

Zinczenko: ”The newsstand coverlines are a tool that help us reach the maximum number of guys possible, on promises we know we’ll fulfill every issue. For many magazines, certain cover subjects — from lines to celebrities — are an important part of their newsstand branding.

But for the 80 percent of readers who get our subscriber copies, the lines are totally different and reflect the breadth and depth of our reporting with the 12 million readers we serve each month. Rest assured — it’s this originality and reporting rigor that’s made us the biggest men’s magazine brand in the world.”

Men's Health Launches "Eat This, Not That!" Application For iPhone, the magazine announced on December 1, 2009:

"Based on the best-selling Eat This, Not That! book series, by David Zinczenko, with Matt Goulding, now in its fifth edition, the application puts thousands of healthy food options at user's fingertips, with tried and true food swaps at restaurants and the supermarket proven to save users thousands of unwanted calories.

"It's the first weight-loss application with actual editorial content, putting the power of carefully culled nutritional knowledge at users' fingertips when it matters most-at the point of sale. Not only will the content be constantly updated from the "Eat This, Not That!" website and the pages of the bestselling book series, but the no-diet food swaps should stand shoulders above other weight-loss app with only basic platforms," said Men's Health Editor-in-Chief, and Women's Health Editorial Director David Zinczenko."

"In addition to automatically updated food swaps on over 10,000 grocery items and 13,000 restaurant menu items, the application also includes a calorie logger that lets users track their daily and weekly caloric intake, as well as how many calories they have worked off. The application combines this information to provide users with a percentage of allotted calories consumed.

"The fourth application from Men's Health, "Eat This, Not That!" is available for iPhone and iPod Touch for $4.99 from the Apple App Store."

Men's Health magazine has honored Red Lobster, the world's largest casual dining seafood restaurant, with nearly 700 locations across North America.

Red Lobster was recently named the "best sit-down chain restaurant in America'" by Mens Health magazine in their "Eat This, Not That" restaurant ratings. The chain topped 11 other restaurants in the "Sit-Down" category and was recognized for its healthy menu offerings.

The chain also topped the "Best Seafood" category in Zagat's most recent consumer study. The survey - released in June 2009 - ranked 103 chains nationwide in categories including food, facilities and service. Zagat surveyed more than 6,107 consumers for the study.
