The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) is a website covering movies and television shows with information about actors, directors, producers and production crew personnel. IMDb was launched on October 17, 1990, based on several projects initiated by participants in the Usenet newsgroup rec.arts.movies. IMDb was acquired by Amazon.com in 1998. As in the beginning, most of the information in the IMDb database continues to come from volunteer researchers.
It is one of the best American media outlets, according to Mondo Times members.
