Mondo Times editors Boulder, Colorado USA | Posted at 11:09pm on Tuesday, November 10th, 2009 | Gawker trashed Deadline Hollywood Daily's Nikki Finke. Writing at Advertising Age, Simon Dumenco asked if it matters on November 9, 2009:
"For a few days, I waited for the other shoe to drop after Gawker's John Cook pretty much destroyed Deadline Hollywood blogger Nikki Finke. Then I realized I was being an idiot -- I was being naïve -- in thinking it would matter.
In case you missed it, on Oct. 29, in a Gawker/Defamer post wryly titled "Why Nikki Finke Never Makes a Mistake," Cook demonstrated rather definitively that Finke blatantly revises history, in her favor, on her notorious blog, which is obsessively read by a certain entertainment-industry in-crowd. Cook showed exactly how she "reported" one take on the box-office results of Sony's Michael Jackson concert doc "This Is It" and then totally reversed herself by editing her original post to say the exact opposite of what she'd previously written -- in a post with the exact same time stamp. And never acknowledged the change."

Mondo Times editors Boulder, Colorado USA | Posted at 1:08pm on Tuesday, October 6th, 2009 | Hollywood fears Nikki Finke, the creator of the Deadline Hollywood Daily website. Tad Friend explains why, writing in the October 12, 2009 issue of The New Yorker:
"Finke is fifty-five, and a longtime entertainment-business reporter. She runs the Web site Deadline Hollywood Daily out of her apartment in west Los Angeles; in three and a half years she has made D.H.D. Hollywood’s most dreaded news source. Marrying tabloid instincts to a strong Puritan streak, Finke portrays many of the town’s leaders as jackasses who golf at exclusive preserves, elbow underlings aside to hog the spotlight, downsize those underlings while lining their own pockets, and generally besmirch the fabric of civilization. Jeff Zucker, the C.E.O. and president of NBC Universal, is “one of the most kiss-ass incompetents to run an entertainment company”; Charles and James Dolan, who own Cablevision, are a “clown parade”; and Sumner Redstone, the chairman of Viacom, is a “crazy old coot.”"
He adds:
"Unlike most Web-based journalists who cover Hollywood, Finke is not a film buff. Her favorite movies include “Legally Blonde.” Jeremy Gerard, who edited her when she wrote for New York a decade ago, says, “Nikki doesn’t care about content—she’s interested in power, and in who’s doing what to whom to achieve power, maintain power, and expand power.”"
