In 2002, at the 20th anniversary party for the Times Moon said "The Washington Times will become the instrument in spreading the truth about God to the world." The Times is known for its conservative stance on political and social issues by liberals and conservatives alike. This newspaper is owned by News World Communications, Inc.. From a news release by the newspaper:
"Minter, who wrote two New York Times bestselling books, and won awards for investigative reporting at the Sunday Times of London, is a former editorial writer and columnist for the Wall Street Journal Europe and WSJ.com. His articles have appeared in The New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal as well as The Atlantic Monthly, Reader's Digest, National Review and The New Republic. He is a regular commentator on Fox News Channel, MSNBC, CNN, C-Span, and CNBC and many nationally syndicated radio programs."
Miniter replaces Deborah Simmons, who had served as editorial page editor since 2007.

"The Washington Times has launched a new rotating column on its opinion page that will provide essays from conservative voices that include the likes of Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney and Jeb Bush.
Wednesday marked the first installment of "Reinventing Conservatism," described as a series that will "showcase a revolving series of essays by some of today's biggest thinkers in the conservative movement."
"The inaugural column, entitled 'Where Does the Conservative Movement Go from Here?' was written by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich," a release states. "He implored conservatives across the country to move beyond just opposing policies of the new administration and Congress and demonstrate they can apply traditional conservative principles to solve the 21st century's biggest challenges.""
