National Post

National Post is a newspaper in Canada covering National News.

Based in Toronto, the National Post is a Canadian newspaper with national distribution, published Monday through Saturday. Its main competitors are The Globe and Mail and The Toronto Star.

The National Post was founded in 1998 by media magnate Conrad Black to provide a voice for Canadian conservatives. It was patterned on the Financial Post, an established financial newspaper which Black purchased from Sun Media in 1997. Financial Post was retained as the name of the new paper's business section.

Conrad Black sold his Canadian media holdings, including the National Post and the Southam newspaper chain, to CanWest Global Communications Corp. in 2000. Canwest was a major Canadian broadcaster and newspaper publisher which entered creditor bankruptcy protection in late 2009, leading to the sale of the company's assets. Postmedia Network, a company formed by National Post CEO Paul Godfrey, acquired the majority of Canwest's newspapers.

This newspaper is owned by Postmedia Network Canada Corp.

The website is presented in the English language.
