National Post
National Post is a Canada newspaper covering National News.
Based in Toronto, the National Post is a Canadian newspaper with national distribution (which is also true of The Globe and Mail). The National Post is published Monday through Saturday. It was founded in 1998 by media magnate Conrad Black, to provide a voice for Canadian conservatives. The National Post was patterned on the Financial Post, an established financial newspaper which Black purchased from Sun Media in 1997. Financial Post was retained as the name of the new paper's business section.
Conrad Black sold his Canadian media holdings, including the National Post and the Southam newspaper chain, to CanWest Global Communications Corp. in 2000.
The newspaper was previously owned by Canwest Global Communications Corporation, a major Canadian broadcaster and newspaper publisher. Canwest entered creditor bankruptcy protection in late 2009 leading to the sale of the company's assets. Postmedia Network, a company formed by National Post CEO Paul Godfrey, acquired the majority of Canwest's newspapers.
This newspaper is owned by Postmedia Network Canada Corp..
The web site is presented in the English language.
