James San Diego | Posted at 11:05am on Monday, October 29th, 2007 | Undercurrent Magazine is out of touch with today's internet reality. The magazine allows divers to post trip reports-without real person verification-on any dive site, live aboard or destination they choose.
Ben Davison, CEO/Editor understands full well that without real person verification anyone with a personal bias, competitor, or angry diver can post missives about any subject they like-without fear of being held accountable for their actions. This system of dive reporting is so egregious, one might even post a trip report just knowing the departure dates of a live aboard and hearing second hand what happened on that trip.
It is in this light that Undercurrent Magazine stands as a soft beacon for real scuba diving dive site, and live aboard intelligence.
With a little bit of effort, and some good will on Undercurrents side they could in fact require real person verification and tighten up how trip reports are gathered, and how they are distributed.
There's no excuse in 2007 to allow old systems of reporting to go unchallenged.
Mr.Davidson the dive industry would like you to continue to thrive...but clean up your store.
