Shape magazine is published for women with information about fitness, health, diet, beauty and vitality. It has a circulation of 1,661,000 as of July 2010, consisting of 1,371,000 subscription copies and 290,000 newsstand sales. It competes with other "active lifestyle" magazines for women, including Fitness magazine, Self magazine and Women's Health magazine. A German language version of Shape is published in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Shape was launched by Weider Publications in 1981. American Media bought Weider Publications in 2003.
