July 16, 2010 -- The 2010 Tour de France is just past its mid-point, and the race has been filled with surprises and controversy. In his final Tour, Lance Armstrong is out of contention after a crash-filled stage, and may now be looking for a big stage win; doping allegations continue to surround Armstrong; cobblestones in the early stages wreaked havoc with the peloton, causing numerous crashes; British rider Mark Cavendish has regained form to capture three stage wins; and a two-man battle has emerged for the yellow jersey, with the young Belgian rider Andy Schleck (SaxoBank) taking aim at the defending champion from Spain, Alberto Contador (Astana).
