Gannett Publisher: Even With Steep Cuts, We're Not Giving Up On Local News
-- On January 11, 2011, Jefferson Patch reported:
"Even as Gannett Company, Inc. cuts its newsroom staff in half at three New Jersey newspapers, Asbury Park Press publisher Tom Donovan said the company is "not backing off from local reporting" in the Morris, Somerset and Middlesex County areas.
Donovan—also a vice president with Gannett's East Group who oversees the Morris County Daily Record, the Somerville Courier News and the Home News Tribune—said newspaper customers shouldn't expect a drastically different product after the staff cuts take place on Feb. 4. The current roster of 99 editorial staff members will drop to 53."
