WMAQ TV 5 Sports Anchor Daryl Hawks Dead at 38
-- Hawks, a sports anchor with the station since 2008, was discovered by hotel employees in his room in Atlanta after missing a wake-up call. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
WMAQ station manager and VP of news Frank Whittaker said, "We are all stunned right now. Daryl was a great member of our sports team, and was so excited about covering the Bulls during this playoff run."
The station has posted a video of remembrance, as well as news footage announcing the sportscaster's death.
