WPIX TV Names Bill Carey News Director

-- November 17, 2009: WPIX TV has named Bill Carey its news director. This is a homecoming of sorts for Carey, who has previously worked at WCBS and WABC during his broadcasting career. Carey will assume his new duties at WPIX on November 30th.

Carey has more than 20 years of management experience in television news, coming to WPIX after serving most recently as station manager and news director for WQAD TV 8 in Moline, Illinois.

"Bill's expertise and experience will be a huge asset to PIX. I look forward to working with him and continuing to grow our presence in local news," said Betty Ellen Berlamino, WPIX President and General Manager.

From 2004 to 2008, Carey served as vice president and general manager of WFTS-TV, the ABC affiliate in Tampa, Florida.

Carey attended St. Francis Prep and is a 1979 graduate of Fordham University with a B.A. in Communications.
