Craig Matters Named Managing Editor of Money Magazine
-- The New York Times reported on November 7, 2008:
"Time Inc., the publishing company, named a new top editor of Money magazine on Friday, just as the company was about to downsize its magazine staffs to keep pace with flagging financial performance.
Craig Matters, one of the highest-ranking editors at Fortune, another Time Inc. magazine, will take over at Money, with the title managing editor. He will succeed Eric Schurenberg, whose departure the company acknowledged on Thursday, near the end of this month.
Mr. Matters has been an assistant managing editor at Money and editor of CNNMoney.com, the Time Warner site that combined the efforts of Money, CNN and Fortune online. Most recently, he has been the executive editor of Fortune, heading its work on the Internet and establishing a more independent identity for that magazine within CNNMoney.com.
In a note to his staff, John Huey, editor in chief of Time Inc., said of Mr. Matters, “He is a change agent and an aggressive, entrepreneurial editor.”
