Well, Ms. West, your interviews with John McCain and now Joe Biden have confirmed it: you are no conservative but you definitely qualify to be "today's Republican." And how interesting it was to find out your husband is Wade West. If he was the wunderkind who cooked up that flaccid laundry list for you, he's really slipping.
Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis said it so well: "Sunlight is the best disinfectant." Well, along with many other people out there none too impressed with you, Ms. West, I'm shining some light on you. And I've got to say, you look a little peaky.
Very, very, sincerely,
Wendy Taylor

I cannot speak for TRUE conservatives such as Colin Powell, Ken Adelman, Charles Fried, George Will, Christopher Buckley, Kathleen Parker, or David Brooks. However, I can and do read what they write, and overwhelmingly they bemoan what has happened to the Republican party. Adding to the horror of real conservative values morphing into the moronic and mindless plank of "God, guns, and gays," intelligence has become "elitism" and idiocy recast anew as "good old-fashioned American patriotism!"

You are all over the web right now, Ms. Barbara West-who-I've-never-heard-of-til-this-moment. And not in an "all publicity is good publicity" way. If you don't believe me, give Michele Bachmann a shout and see if she agrees with that old canard. You, Ms. West, are a disgrace to the ideal of what journalism should be. You not only shame yourself but betray those who watch and trust you. (Don't worry, though: to people like me, you degrade only yourself.)

Or what if he'd asked you what you meant by those big, bad words and pressed you to elaborate? Your blank eyes would have rolled back in that empty cipher I take to be your head.

By the way, Ms. West, what would you have done if Mr. Biden hadn't kept his cool and instead had "pulled a McCain" on you? I know that John McCain measures up to Joe Biden about as much as you do to Christiane Amanpour, but still.

Your journalistic ethics don't FORCE you to inform people that what you were really pretending to be terrified of is "voter registration fraud," which, while unethical to the voting populace as well as to ACORN, does not allow a single Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck to punch a ballot. So glad you got a chance to cover the hard stuff, though--what a waste of time talking about real issues with either candidate would have been!
I'm most offended not by your partisan, ignorant assault on Mr. Biden, which his stratospherically superior intellect ensured would be seen as the fetid yet altogether harmless verbal ordure it was. What really galls me is that now--because I've made myself a promise not to let people like you get away with this sort of malignant and perverse defamation anymore--I've got to spend time writing this email to you. And your boss. Oh--and then my friends. And my family. And my colleagues. And anyone I can think of, in Florida and peppered throughout our great country, to link them to your video and my response to it. And of course I'll ask them all to keep letting people know about what passes for reporting by you and your station. I'll make sure to include the phone number of Cox Broadcasting so we can all call and register our complaints. Think of it like that shampoo commercial where "she told a friend, and then she told a friend..." You get the
picture. Gosh, the internet is such an amazing tool!

Watching the video of you speaking with John McCain on October 14, I wondered if you were a reporter or a campaign staffer feeding McCain material so he wouldn't forget his sad, transparent attack lines. At least you got a chance to commiserate and brood over the big, overarching issue of the day: "voter fraud." With the economy imploding, two wars being fought in our name, people being turned out of their homes due to foreclosures--not to mention our mortifying education statistics and foundering healthcare system--what else would you think worth discussing?

Dear Ms. West,
I just finished watching your "interview" with Joe Biden. Since I lived in South Florida for many years, I know only too well how reporters there love their theatrics, hoping a Rick Sanchez moment will sweep them off their anchor-y little feet and over to CNN.

Tom Wright Port Orchard, WA USA | Posted at 6:17pm on Sunday, October 26th, 2008 | Makes no difference if Ms. West is a "partisan", someone has to ask the Obamaniacs those hard questions.
McCain & Palin have gone on the hostile shows, Letterman, The (ugh!) View, Charlie Gibson, Katie Couric, etc., and been ambushed at every turn, and they haven't complained and tried to shut down any access.
BUT when it happens to The Messiah & his minions, they can't hack it. Do you smell "State Controlled Media" here? I do.
