Eric Kallgren Boulder, Colorado USA | Posted at 1:02pm on Friday, December 19th, 2008 | On December 17, 2008, Editor & Publisher magazine reported that Ken Paulson is leaving USA Today after four years as the editor of the newspaper:
USA Today Editor Ken Paulson is planning to leave the paper and become president and COO of the Newseum and Freedom Forum, the paper announced this afternoon.
Paulson, 55, succeeds Peter Prichard in the Newseum post, a Newseum announcement stated. Prichard will work on special projects for one year before retiring.
The change in Newseum leadership was announced by Charles L. Overby, chairman and CEO of the Freedom Forum and CEO of the Newseum.
“We are very pleased that Ken is returning to play a major role in shaping the future of our organizations,” Overby said in a statement. “He is recognized nationally as an important leader in First Amendment and news issues and his proven leadership qualities will help us continue to develop and expand the reach of our world-class museum.”
A memo from Publisher Craig Moon details Paulson's Feb. 1 departure date, but names no replacement yet.
