Edward R. Murrow (1908-1965), from a speech delivered at the RTNDA Convention in Chicago on October 15, 1958. Widely regarded as the greatest American broadcast journalist, Murrow was noted for his honesty and integrity in delivering the news. He is remembered particularly for his radio coverage of the London blitz at the beginning of World War II, and for his 1954 report on the television program "See It Now" concerning Senator Joseph McCarthy and the red scare.
