Channel 1 Israel (HaArutz HaRishon in Hebrew, meaning "The First Channel") is the oldest television channel in Israel. Launched on May 2, 1968, Channel 1 is operated by the Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA), and supported mainly by a television license. The channel airs a wide range of locally produced and American television shows, along with the evening news and current affairs program called Mabat.
