Excelsior is a daily newspaper published in Mexico City which describes itself as "El periodico de la vida nacional" ("The newspaper of national life").

The newspaper was founded in Mexico City on March 18, 1917 by Rafael Alduncin. Today it is still associated with the work of Julio Scherer Garcia, its editorial director from August 1968 to July 1976. Regarded as one of the great Mexican journalists, Scherer Garcia covered the events of October 2, 1968 when Mexican government troops massacred hundreds of student protesters at La Plaza de Tres Culturas in Mexico City.

This newspaper is owned by Grupo Imagen S.A.B. de C.V..
