Vedomosti is a Russian business newspaper that began publication in 1999. It was started as a joint venture of Dow Jones & Company, the Financial Times and the owners of The Moscow Times.
After Russia passed a law in 2014 limiting foreign ownership of Russian media companies to no more than 20%, the FT and Dow Jones sold their interests in 2015. The Guardian newspaper reported that Vedomosti was sold to new owners in March 2020, and while it is unclear who the new owners are, they quickly began to censor the newspaper's content to favor Russian government interests.
The website is presented in the Russian language.
