WQEC TV 27 in Quincy, Illinois is a service of WSIU Public Broadcasting which is owned by Southern Illinois University (SIU). It is a sister station of WSIU TV 8 in Carbondale.
WSIU Public Broadcasting partners with the academic programs of the SIU College of Mass Communication & Media Arts for student training, employment and engagement opportunities.
WQEC TV first went on the air in March 1985. It was part of Network Knowledge, a not-for-profit organization that operated WQEC and two other PBS member stations in central and western Illinois. Together, the three stations serve a large portion of western Illinois as well as parts of Missouri and Iowa. In October 2018, the Network Knowledge organization was merged into WSIU Public Broadcasting.
