The Cambridge Chronicle covers local news and events in the city of Cambridge, located next door to the city of Boston, Massachusetts.
First published on May 7, 1846, it is the oldest surviving weekly newspaper in the United States. The publication was founded by Scotsman Andrew Reid a few days before Cambridge became incorporated as a city. It was sold to now-defunct Herald Media, owner of the Boston Herald, in 2001. In 2006, it was sold again to GateHouse Media.
On November 19, 2019, the paper became part of Gannett Company when the owner of GateHouse Media bought Gannett and merged the two companies under the Gannett name.

William J. Dowd Named Editor of the Cambridge Chronicle-Tab
-- In November 2021, William Dowd replaced Amy Saltzman as the editor of the Cambridge Chronicle-Tab in Massachusetts. His previous experience includes four years as assistant editor of the Marblehead Reporter.

Local Media "Underfunded and Under Siege"
-- Those were the parting words of former Cambridge Chronicle-Tab Editor Amy Saltzman, who left the paper on October 22, 2021 after nine years to teach journalism at Boston University. She noted that the newspaper's staff had dropped from four people to just herself and urged readers to subscribe.
