Pittsfield Gazette

The Pittsfield Gazette was a newspaper in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, USA covering local news, sports, business, politics and community events.

The Pittsfield Gazette stopped publishing in June 2021 after founder and publisher Jonathan Levine passed away after a brief battle with cancer. The newspaper described itself as "committed to community journalism" and covered news, people and happenings in the city of Pittsfield and across Berkshire County in western Massachusetts.

Jonathan Levine was a Pittsfield native who attended Brown University, where he served two terms as editor of the Brown Daily Herald. After graduating from Brown he returned to Pittsfield and started the Gazette, which he published for almost thirty years.

A note at the Gazette reads: "Jonathan was driven by a strong sense of right and wrong and used his forum to praise city officials when he felt that was deserved and to call out those whose actions he felt were not in the best interests of Pittsfield's citizens."
