Omaha Reader

The Omaha Reader was a newspaper in Omaha, Nebraska, USA covering local entertainment, events and culture.

The Reader was a free alternative newsweekly distributed in Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska and Council Bluffs, Iowa. The Reader's first issue was published in February 1994 by a group of five volunteers, including publisher John Heaston, out of an Omaha apartment at 49th and Dodge. In August 2023, the Reader stopped publishing.

This publication is a member of the Association of Alternative Newsmedia (AAN). AAN is a group of newspapers and magazines providing journalism that offers an alternative to the mainstream media in the area.

This newspaper was owned by Pioneer Publishing.

The Reader by far is the most compelling media in town. It's not the thickest nor the most colorful, but the content is undeniably the best! It's nice to see a paper that focuses more on editorial than on advertising!
