The Long Island Press is published monthly with local news, arts, lifestyle and sports coverage for residents of Long Island, New York. It is a free newspaper was started in 2003 by Jed Morey. Schneps Media bought the Long Island Press from Morey Publishing, Inc. in 2017.
This newspaper is unrelated to a defunct newspaper with the same name that was launched in 1821 as the Long Island Farmer. The name was changed to the Long Island Daily Press in 1921 and then to the Long Island Press in 1967. The newspaper was shut down in 1977.
This publication is a member of the Association of Alternative Newsmedia (AAN). AAN is a group of newspapers and magazines providing journalism that offers an alternative to the mainstream media in the area.
