Snopes is a USA website covering National News.

Snopes is a digital fact-checking service that describes itself as "the internet's go-to source for discerning what is true and what is total nonsense." It is the oldest and largest fact-checking site online.

Snopes began in 1994 by investigating urban legends, hoaxes and folklore. It was founded by David Mikkelson, who was later joined by his wife Barbara. 'Snopes' is the name of a despicable family in the Yoknapatawpha novels and stories of William Faulkner.

Snopes Slammed for Co-Founder's Plagiarism
-- Countering rumors and fake news, fact-checking website Snopes held the high ground for years. BuzzFeed News just changed that with revelations that Snopes co-founder David Mikkelson wrote 60 articles plagiarized from news outlets, and he did so in order to bump web traffic.
