ProPublica is a USA website covering National News.
ProPublica is an independent, non-profit newsroom that produces investigative journalism. Headquartered in Manhattan, ProPublica commenced operations in January 2008 and publishing began in June 2008.
In response to the decline is the resources news organizations devote to hard news, the service focuses on original reporting in the public interest. ProPublica argues that "we face a situation in which sources of opinion are proliferating, but sources of facts on which those opinions are based are shrinking. The former phenomenon is almost certainly, on balance, a societal good; the latter is surely a problem."
All ProPublica articles and graphics can be republished for free, based on the Creative Commons license.
It is one of the best American media outlets, according to Mondo Times members.

-- December 18, 2012: Engelberg moves up from managing editor at ProPublica. He replaces Paul Steiger, who has been promoted from EIC and president to executive chairman of the non-profit newsroom organization.
At the same time, Robin Fields is promoted from senior editor to managing editor, and Eric Umansky has been named assistant managing editor.

-- Steiger will be succeeded as editor in chief of ProPublica by current managing editor Stephen Engelberg.
Richard Tofel, who serves as ProPublica's general manager, will become the organization's president, and Tofel and Engelberg will each hold the title of co-chief executive officer.
ProPublica chairman Herbert Sandler announced the personnel moves on May 14, 2012.
