The Associated Press (AP) is an independent, not-for-profit news agency headquartered in New York City. It is a news cooperative owned by its 1,400 U.S. newspaper and broadcast members.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi Defends Political Corruption

Julie Pace Named AP Executive Editor
-- On September 1, 2021, Julie Pace, 39, became the global news agency's senior vice president and executive editor. She has worked at the Associated Press since 2007, most recently as Washington bureau chief. She replaces Sally Buzbee, who took the top editorial job at The Washington Post in June.

The Associated Press names Daisy Veerasingham as next President and CEO
-- On January 1, 2022, British journalist Daisy Veerasingham, 51, will succeed Gary Pruitt as the leader of the AP. She will be the 14th leader in its 175-year history and the first woman and the first person of color to lead the news agency.
