Black News Channel

Black News Channel was a USA television channel covering National News.

Black News Channel (BNC) was a 24/7 cable and satellite news channel produced for African Americans which used the slogan "Truth." It was shut down in early February 2022 after struggling to generate sufficient revenue.

The channel covered the latest news in concert with offering analysis and opinion to provide historical context and show how current events relate to the black and brown experience. BNC said it celebrates black lives, culture and history as "the antidote to today's toxic news environment."

Independent and minority-owned, BNC was founded by businessman Bob Brillante and former Congressman J.C. Watts. Brillante made an unsuccessful attempt to start what was called the "Black Television News Channel" in 2003. Watts had worked to start a channel serving Black Americans for 15 years. BNC launched on February 10, 2020. Shahid Khan, the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars NFL football team, was a major investor in the business.
