ION Television Network

ION Television Network is a USA television channel.

ION Television is an American television network that runs syndicated TV series and some original shows. ION was originally called PAX TV and was launched on August 31, 1998 by Lowell "Bud" Paxson, co-founder of the Home Shopping Network and chairman of Paxson Communications Corporation. PAX TV became "i Independent TV" in July 2005. The name of the network was changed again in January 2007 to ION Television. This name change was driven by the network's decision to expand from independent to general-interest programming.

In May 2009, ION Television filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in order to recapitalize the company and extinguish $2.7 billion in debt. It emerged from bankruptcy later that year and was then controlled by investment company Black Diamond Capital Management LLC until January 7, 2021, when it was sold to E.W. Scripps Company. The deal included three smaller networks -- Ion Plus, Qubo and Shop Ion -- which Scripps quickly shut down. Scripps combined ION with its other national networks -- Newsy, Court TV, Court TV Mystery, Bounce, Grit and Laff. These services usually appear on the digital subchannels of broadcast TV stations affiliated with the major TV networks.

This television channel is owned by E.W. Scripps Company.
