Sundance TV is a USA television channel.
Sundance TV (originally called the Sundance Channel) is a cable and satellite TV channel offering a diverse selection of films, documentaries and original programs. Sundance TV operates independently of the non-profit Sundance Institute and the Sundance Film Festival but shares the overall Sundance mission of encouraging artistic freedom of expression.
The channel was launched in 1996 under the creative direction of actor, producer and director Robert Redford. Today Sundance TV is owned by AMC Networks Inc., which also operates AMC, IFC, BBC America and WE TV. AMC Networks began operations on July 1, 2011, when Cablevision Systems Corporation spun off its Rainbow Media Holdings subsidiary to form the new company.
