Local Residents to support Occupy Congress and Occupy the Courts

99% Community Movement Event Part of a National Week of Action to Support the Occupy Wall Street Protests and Promote Economic Justice

Main Street and Mam’k Avenue to 222 Mam’k Avenue
On 1/17/21012, members of the numerous progressive groups led by MoveOn.org, will rally outside on the corner of Main and Mam’k Avenue. They will then have a silent candlelight vigil and proceed to Congresswoman Lowey’s office where they will have another brief rally.
They are protesting Citizens United and demanding a Constitutional Amendment to
repeal corporate personhood.
They demand Washington make Wall Street and millionaires pay their fair share to create jobs, rather than make cuts that hit the middle class and poor.
They demand campaign finance reform.
They want an end to tenure for Congress, ending lifetime salaries and healthcare.

“We are sick of politicians in Washington putting the big banks and corporations before working families,” said Marjorie Morales, a local MoveOn member. “We need an economy that works for all Americans, not just the richest 1 percent
The rally, march and protest will take place on Jan. 17, 2012 at 6PM at main Street and Mam’k Avenue in White Plains, New York.

The event is being organized by Moveon.Org and its’ Hudson Valley Coalition partners in support of Occupy Wall Street.
