WMTW TV 8 is a TV station in Portland, Maine, USA airing ABC network programs, local news and weather.

The station is an affiliate of the ABC Television Network.

WMTW TV 8 is the ABC network affiliate station serving the city of Portland and southeastern Maine. It is the sister station of WPXT TV 51 in Portland; the two stations share studios and a website.

It began broadcasting on September 25, 1954 under the ownership of Mount Washington Television. The station originally used a transmitter on Mount Washington, the highest peak in the northeastern United States. Mount Washington Television sold the station to Jack Paar of Tonight Show fame in 1963. In 1967, Paar sold WMTW to Mid-New York Broadcasting which later changed its name to Harron Communications.

In 2004 Harron sold the station to Hearst-Argyle Television, later renamed Hearst Television, a unit of Hearst Communications.
