KUMV TV 8 began broadcasting on February 6, 1957. It is a semi-satellite station of KMOT TV 10 in Minot, ND. KUMV/KMOT were sold to the Meyer family of Bismarck. In 1997, the Meyers sold the stations to Sunrise Television Corporation. Sunrise sold them to The Wicks Group of Companies in 2002. Hoak Media Corporation acquired both stations in 2006. In 2014, Gray Television acquired most of the assets of Hoak Media.
